TRANSFORMER 4
As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues. Shia LaBeouf will not return for this film (Variety, 10-17-11). The fourth and fifth installments could be headed into production back-to-back (Variety, 10-17-11). Screenwriter Ehren Kruger is said to have an idea for the next installments that the studio is very interested in (Variety, 10-17-11).
Michael Bay's first Transformers film was a box office sensation in 2007, opening at #1 and earning more than $700 million worldwide. His second installment Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009 grossed more than $830 million worldwide. In 2011, Transformers: Dark of the Moon was an even bigger hit worldwide, grossing more than a billion dollars to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time. To date, the franchise has earned more than $2.6 billion worldwide.
